Decisioneering, Sigma Breakthrough Technologies Partner in Six Sigma Training

Decisioneering, Inc., developer of the award-winning Crystal Ball 2000 line of decision analysis tools, has announced the formation of a strategic partnership with Sigma Breakthrough Technologies, Inc. (SBTI), the country's largest Six Sigma training firm. Six Sigma is the application of statistical methods to business processes to improve business results. Its goal is to reduce unwanted process and product variability to provide more robust and valuable products and services.

SBTI has included tolerance modelling techniques in their Design For Six Sigma curriculum and has selected Decisioneering's Crystal Ball risk analysis software to perform tolerance and risk analysis through variation analysis techniques. "Crystal Ball will enable our Black Belt students to conduct risk analysis on tolerances for critical components and determine the probability of a design or tolerance conflict," said Eric Edwin, VP Technology and Development, SBTI.

A Microsoft Excel add-in, Crystal Ball automates the cumbersome "what-if" process using Monte Carlo simulation and presents the results in an easy-to-understand graphic display. Its forecasting and sensitivity analysis combined with a full graphical interface make it easy to isolate the key facts and figures needed for Six Sigma decision analysis, facilitating the development of efficient and cost-effective process improvements.

Charles Von Thun, Decisioneering's CEO, added, "The Six Sigma approach uses statistical methods to reduce variation and improve any business process, allowing companies to implement operating efficiencies and boost the bottom line. That's precisely what Crystal Ball is all about. Crystal Ball has already attained widespread use as a teaching tool in leading universities, and we are delighted to partner with SBTI in providing their Black Belt students an analytical tool that will enhance their ability to make rapid and accurate implementation decisions in their own companies."

Founded in 1986, Denver-based Decisioneering, Inc. provides software tools that simplify risk analysis and improve decision-making, including the industry-leading risk analysis package, Crystal Ball 2000.
