New Features for Surfer version 8.0

1. Color surface maps have been added to Surfer! Most map types, including other surface maps can be overlaid on surface maps. You can control the color, lighting, mesh, base, and overlay color blending of a surface map.

2. Overlay bitmaps on 3D surface maps! This new feature allows you to drape a raster image, such as a shaded relief map, a bitmap base map, or an image map over a surface map.

3. Mosaic multiple grid files to form a single grid file.

4. Use the new Cross Validate command to assess the quality of the selected gridding method.

5. Filter grids using many pre-defined filters or define your own filter.

6. Use Data Metrics to gather information about the data.

7. Create a map of the Delaunay triangulation when gridding with the Triangulation with Linear Interpolation or Natural Neighbor methods.

8. Utilize up to one billion rows in the worksheet (subject to memory and Operating System limitations).

9. Retain the faults in your grid after blanking it.

10. Display bitmap and metafile information.

11. Generate reports from a large number of places in the program.

12. Rotate and 3D tilt shaded relief maps, raster base maps, image maps.

13. Create smaller SRF files with the new bitmap compression routines.

14. Use the new Moving Average or Local Polynomial gridding methods.

15. Use the new Cubic or Pentaspherical variogram models.

16. Set a Z scale factor to your volume calculations when your XY units are not the same as the Z units.

17. Load large data files faster when gridding (there is no pre-sorting or pre-duplicate checking).

18. Use the new import formats: Enhanced Metafile, Golden Software Interchange, and ESRI ArcInfo Export Format.

19. Use the new export formats: Enhanced Metafile, MapInfo Interchange Format, Golden Software Interchange, and Golden Software Boundary.

20. Use the ANOVA statistics contained in the gridding and variogram reports.

21. Rotate, tilt, and change the field of view with the Trackball command.

22. Easily move the window using the Pan Realtime command.

23. Zoom by dragging the cursor using the Zoom Realtime command.

24. Create a plot greater than 32 inches under all operating systems.
